Hello ! I’m Eleonore, I’m an integrative veterinary doctor and conservationist.

I have been practising veterinary medicine for over 18 years in different countries and at my own veterinary practice, soon to realise that I wanted to do more for the animals.

Traditional medicine soon showed it’s dark side as I didn’t feel I was curing diseases but rather hiding symptoms and dealing with a lot of side effects caused by the many drugs I was using.

I was also seeing a lot of allergic reactions and health issue related  to vaccines and food that I was offering and advising at the time, mainly highly processed commercial pet food.

I felt I was stuck 8 to 12 hours in a practice with lots of stress because I wasn’t fulfilled with what I was doing.

I wanted to quit vet medicine, because I didn’t feel good with how I was practising, I was deeply disappointed in the profession that I had obsessed about since I was 6 years of age.

I decided to sell my practice and travel the world, trying different things to find out what I really wanted to do.

I knew I wanted to reach and help save animals better, those in need, the abandoned ones, the wild ones that had no owners that would take care of them and bring them to the vet when they would get sick.

That’s how my conservation adventure started.

I was travelling and exploring different countries around the globe helping and assisting in all kinds of conservation projects from small animal and wildlife rescue centres to marine conservation projects and plastic pollution.

And this is when I learned the concept of ONE HEALTH, that clearly defines the interrelation and connection of human health, animal health and the planet’s health.

Veganism came soon after, while realising that my health issues were directly related to the foods I ate and that eating more plant-based foods supported a better health for the planet and the animals as well as our own.

I started researching and came across a blog on veganism and found it very interesting and thought I’d give it a try and see if in fact I would feel better on a plant-based diet.

At first, I cut dairy and started feeling already much better, no more headaches, no more joint pains..then, I cut meat and not only did I feel so much better, with more energy but lost weight without going on a diet.

I was so excited that I wanted to know more and studied nutrition to understand the basis of why I was feeling so much better and realised the big connection with food and our wellbeing.

On top of that, I was helping animals and the environment too!

This is when I realised that our animals were also being affected by what they were eating, commercial pet foods.

Soon I discovered why so many of my patients were getting sick and I wasn’t able to cure them.

The advice I was given was from the early days at vet school, where commercial ultra processed diets was all we knew.

I started digging deeper into animal nutrition and feeding a more natural, fresh, species appropriate diet and the amazing results would soon show.

My patients were healing, their skin allergies were disappearing, their digestive issues and weight problems were gone.

During the following years I studied Chinese food therapy, Chinese herbal medicine and Chinese acupuncture.

I was providing healthier and more natural treatments for my patients and I was again falling in love with my profession.

This was the reason I studied veterinary medicine, to heal, to stop the suffering, to relief the pain and reverse/cure disease or even better, prevent it.

Something that I was not able to do as a traditional veterinarian.

Don’t get me wrong, I am NOT against traditional medicine, it helped me save many pets from acute health problems and we need the fast acting drugs for emergency situations.

But for chronic conditions, many that were caused by the foods we give our pets and the over use of vaccines and medications, a more natural and integrative approach is the only way for our pets to thrive .

To further my understanding and knowledge on the foods I was eating and the foods I was advising for my pet patients, I did a Masters degree in Food safety.

To make sure I had a good knowledge on what foods were best to put into my body and to provide my patients.

I was still hooked on the idea of travelling and helping animals around the world, meeting amazing humans and treating stunning animals that I wanted more people to join this amazing experience .

So, I created a volunteering platform for veterinary and non veterinary students and everyone who’s interested in helping the environment to join these conservation projects around the globe.

After a long brainstorming session on how I could provide a more holistic and natural approach to my patients and help the planet in them meantime by reducing waste, Onehealthoneplanet.com was born.

My days are spent either in front of the computer researching, studying, creating awareness on social media, responding emails, providing telemedicine (online consultations) or acupuncture treatments  to my patients or cooking delicious plant-based recipes or travelling to conservation projects that I’m partners with to give a hand, teach courses and provide support to the volunteers I help around the globe.

If all this has captured your attention and you want to know more about how your pet can thrive with a more natural medical approach  GET IN TOUCH and get started in this new amazing journey!

I would love to hear from you!
